The colourful history of Asia, from ancient times through to the rise and fall of communism, shows brightly in Mongolia. Alongside the temples and museums is an abundance of natural wonders. See 2 hump camels, Takhi horses, and yaks.
From the traffic-jammed streets of Ulaanbaatar to the tranquil expanses of the Nomadic Camps, come sleep in Gers and discover the mystery of Mongolia with us...
Dinner upon arrival then check-in hotel.
We commence our Mongolia adventure with a long drive to the Khogno Khan Mountain, a massive series of rocky hills that rise out of an otherwise flat landscape. Sweat a little by hiking to a height of nearly 2000 meters for an incredible view of the grasslands (Optional 2-hump camel ride). Overnight in Ger Camp.
Visit the Kharkhorin Museum and Erdene-Zuu, a monastery with 108 stupas. This is the first Mongolian Buddhist monastery built in 1586 by the order of Abtai Sain Khan. Explore the ruins of this great Mongolian Capital City. After lunch, drive back to Ulaanbaatar for rest and overnight.
After breakfast, proceed to the central square of Ulaanbaatar, Chinggis Square. See the Parliament House, National Museum of Mongolia and the Gandan Monastery where we see the huge gold plated Buddha - a symbol of Mongolian national pride and cultural revival. After lunch, drive to Hustai National Park. See Takhi, the Asian wild horse (Przevalsky breed). Enjoy a Mongolian traditional meal of “Horhog”. Overnight in Ger Camp.
Witness the demonstration of everyday life of traditional Mongolian family and herders. Then drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Go to Shijiamoni Buddhism Park and Zaisan Hill. The huge monument on the top of the hill was created as a memorial to the soldiers who died in World War II. In here, also sits a 23 meter tall statue of Buddha. After lunch, drive back to Ulaanbaatar where there will be time to do some shopping at the State Department Store and Cashmere World.
Drive to the 13th Century Park, here you will feel the returning of the age of Mongolian Great Empire. Also, you have a chance to ride a horse and camel, to take a photo with Mongolian dress and dwelling (own expense). After lunch, proceed to the impressive 45m tall Giant Genghis Khaan Statue, then transfer to the “Gorkhi-Terelj” National Park.
This morning, marvel at the Three Friends Cave and Turtle Rock. Next stop will be Bogd Khan Palace where the last religious King of Mongolia resided. In the evening, we put our hands together for Tumen Ekh - a national ensemble of Mongolian traditional songs and musical instruments, such as Morin Khuur, throat singing and many more. Then we drive to the airport for our flight back to Manila.
