We continue our tour of Barcelona by visiting one of the most famous cathedrals in the world. Sagrada Familia was Gaudi’s last work before he died and is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Construction began in 1882 and up to now the basilica is still under construction since it relies on private donations. Step through a heavy set of doors covered in hand-carved vines and find yourself beneath rows and rows of tree-like pillars that seem to reach up all the way to the heavens. The afternoon will be free for shopping.
Today, we take a long drive going to Lourdes and check-in for overnight.
We spend the morning free for our own private devotions. In the afternoon take train to Paris where we will spend the next 3 nights.
We explore the city of love and lights which will include a drive along the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe. Visit the Eiffel Tower and Cathedral of Notre Dame. Then spend the rest of the afternoon shopping at Galleries Lafayette.
This morning will be spent in one of Paris’ famous landmarks. The Louvre Museum houses different artworks of the famous renaissance painters including the world-renowned Mona Lisa. Then take the rest of the day on your own to explore the rest of the city.
We take a cross-country train ride to Switzerland to visit Zurich. Discover this unique city which has won the “City of Best Quality of Life”! Our tour will include the castle-like National Museum, the shopping and business centre on Bahnhofstrasse, the Limmatquai with its medieval Old Town and view to the Lindenhof, where the brave women of Zurich saved the city from the invaders, the largest church clock-face of Europe on St. Peter, the patriarchal Guild Houses, the Opera house with its famous June- Festivals, the lake (picture stop).
Make sure to wear warm layers today as we take a Rotair (Cable Car) going to the top of Mt. Titlis. Enjoy the magnificent view from above and see other mountain alps up-close. The rest of the day will be spent on your own where you can have a chance to purchase that dream swiss watch!
We now transfer to Germany to see the city of Munich. We will have a half day city tour to explore the Bavarian capital which will include the celebrated Maximilianstrasse, the Munich Residenz – largest city palace in the country, and old town hall.
From Germany, we now go to Austria where we will explore the town of Innsbruck. Visit the old town where you will see the famous Golden Roof that shimmers with 2,738 copper tiles and the domed church of the Hofkirche that shelters Emperor Maximilian's gilded tomb.
We spend the morning driving to Venice where we will be taking a boat taxi going to the Venice Isle. Hear the stories of this city through Piazza San Marco, Basilica San Marco, Palazzo Ducale, Bell Tower, Clock Tower and procuratie. We will also see Santa Maria Formosa. Marco Polo’s House and the Malibran Theatre.
Another city in in Italy is Florence. We start with a view from the Piazzale Michelangelo located on a hill above city. Visit the highlights of the city known as ‘birthplace of the Italian Renaissance’: the domed cathedral of the city, Santa Maria del Fiore, the Campanile tower and the Baptistery nearby, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio. Visit also the leather market of San Lorenzo.
We enjoy the rest of the day here by visiting The Mall Firenze, an outlet store which houses famous premium leather brands like Gucci, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and more!
Prepare for a long drive today as we transfer to San Giovanni Rotondo.
In the morning enjoy guided tour of San Giovanni Rotondo, one of Italy’s most-visited pilgrimage sites. Take a visit to the Monastery Shrine of Padre Pio (also known as the Convent of the Minor Capuchin Friars) to see sites linked to the saint. The shrine is home to two churches, the older Our Lady of Grace Church (Santa Maria delle Grazie) with its stunning wall of mosaics and the new Padre Pio Pilgrimage Church that was designed by the lauded Italian architect Renzo Piano. See Padre Pio’s tomb and prayer cell inside the Our Lady of Grace Church or perhaps take a stroll to see the Way of the Cross monument on a hill overlooking the church. In the afternoon, we transfer to Rome for overnight.
Today, we will tour the Vatican City including St Peter’s Basilica. The rest of the afternoon will be free.
