Tour Briefing
Upon arrival, we proceed for lunch then start our city tour starting with Chinggis Square. See the Parliament House, National Museum of Mongolia and the Gandan Monastery where we see the huge gold plated Buddha - a symbol of Mongolian national pride and cultural revival. Go to Shijiamoni Buddhism Park and Zaisan Hill. The huge monument on the top of the hill was created as a memorial to the soldiers who died in World War II. It also gives one of the best panoramic views in Ulaanbaatar.
We commence our Mongolia adventure with a long drive to the Khogno Khan Mountain, a massive series of rocky hills that rise out of an otherwise flat landscape. Sweat a little by hiking to a height of nearly 2000 meters for an incredible view of the grasslands (Optional 2-hump camel ride). Visit the Kharkhorin Museum. We experience our first night in a ger camp.
Visit the Erdene-Zuu, a monastery with 108 stupas. This is the first Mongolian Buddhist monastery built in 1586 by the order of Abtai Sain Khan. Explore the ruins of this great Mongolian Capital City. After lunch, drive back to Ulaanbaatar where there will be time to do some shopping at the State Department Store and Cashmere World.
After breakfast we drive to the Mongol Nomadic Tourist Camp where we will see a demonstration of everyday life of traditional Mongolian family and herders in real life. Marvel at the Three Friends Cave and Turtle Rock then transfer to the “Gorkhi-Terelj” National Park then have a traditional Mongolian “Horhog” for dinner.
This morning, we drive to see the impressive 45m tall Giant Genghis Khaan Statue. Then we proceed to Bogd Khan Palace Museum, a series of beautiful traditional buildings, where the last religious King of Mongolia resided. In the evening, we put our hands together for cultural show - a national ensemble of Mongolian traditional songs and musical instruments, such as Morin Khuur, throat singing and many more.
Free time until our flight back to Manila.
