A Journey to New Zealand
Our journey starts beneath the southern skies – where one marvels at steep fjords, pristine trout-filled lakes, jagged mountains, rolling pasture lands, raging rivers, scenic beaches, and active volcanoes. Inhabited by flightless birds and silver ferns seen nowhere else. Go jet-boating through shallow gorges and bungy jumping off high bridges.
A country of stunning and diverse natural beauty, a place that will forever keep you under its spell … KIA ORA!
Kai Ora! Upon arrival in Christchurch, we will be met by our South Island tour guide and commence with our city tour. Christchurch is the largest city in the South Island and one of the most beautiful in New Zealand with its large public gardens, parks, rivers, and majestic backdrop of the Port Hills. It is often described as the most English of New Zealand cities, with many English influences clearly visible. Visit the Sign of the Takahe, with the Canterbury University, Riccarton House and Riccarton Bush, Mona Vale, Hagley Park, Antigua Boat Sheds, Botanical Gardens, Upper Worcester Boulevard, Victoria Clock Tower. Lunch, then hotel check – in. time to rest before we meet for Western welcome dinner at the famous Lone Star.
After breakfast, we depart for Greymouth and take a Tranz Alpine Scenic Train Ride. Truly one of the world’s greatest scenic train trips through the dramatic contrast of dry beech forests and tussock land on one side of the alps and lush green landscapes on the other. Arrive in our hotel in the Fox Glacier and Franz Josef area. The mighty FOX is the largest and longest of the magnificent West Coast Glaciers. It is remarkable in that it ends temperate rainforest, 250 meters above sea level and a mere 12 kms from the sea!

Into the heart of New Zealand high country on board our 4WD as Nomad Safaris takes us to “Safaris of the Scenes”, the embodiment of Middle Earth of Tolkien’s imagination in Wakatipu and Arrowtown. This will also give us a chance to see the AJ Hacket Bungy Jump Bridge. New Zealand is famous for bungy jumping and AJ Hackett is famous for making these high jumps. After that, we take an exhilarating high speed Shotover Jet Ride and glide through the waters. Dinner in a local restaurant.
Today is free to try different adventures that Queenstown has to offer. You might opt to throw yourself out in mid-air by doing the Bungy Jumping or Sky Diving. In the afternoon, we depart for Bob’s Peak. Take the Skyline Gondola that sits atop the steepest lift in the Southern Hemisphere, with a top terminal reaching half – a – mile high. Sit and relax as you experience the best view in the city, revealing Queenstown in all its majesty with breathtaking are the views of The Remarkables, Coronet Park and Lake Wakatipu. The Gondola Skyline comes complete with a café and restaurant where we will indulge in one of our highlight dinner tonight.
After breakfast, we will be transferred to the airport for our flight back to Rotorua. Upon arrival, proceed to visit the famed Agrodome, for a unique farm experience. See no lessthan 12 different sheep breeds, watch sheep shearing up close, boomerang throwing, milk a cow, feed friendly animals and watch sheep dogs gather their herd. A guided tour of Rainbow Springs follow where we see the huge colourful trouts, the silver ferns and the shy kiwi! Then on to Te Puia Thermal Reserve. Feel and smell the hot pools and geysers and the Te Po - an indigenous evening experience that will leave one with a deeper understanding of the Maori culture and traditions. Cap our day with a full puku (stomach) as we share in a Hangi Feast where food is cooked using heated rocks and buried into a heated pit oven to cook.
On to Matamata, where The Lord of the Rings set comes to life in Hobbiton. There are spectacular views across the Kamai ranges from the rolling green hills of the movie set. Look forward to lunch at the Green Dragon Marquee! Then move on to Waitomo and take a small boat as we enter the Glow Worm Cave. See how these tiny creatures illuminates the whole place! On to Auckland for dinner, hotel check-in and rest
Auckland city sightseeing includes the Harbour Bridge, Tamaki Waterfront Drive, Mission Bay, Tamaki Drive, Savage Points, Parnell Rose Park and Gardens, developed around the cone of an extinct volcano and the Victoria Park. Afternoon free for private activities then we meet for dinner.
Check out of hotel. More sightseeing and shopping. Our tour ends with a Farewell dinner at a local restaurant before transfer to the airport for our flight back home.
