FEB 09 (THU) MANILA / TAIPEI
FEB 10 (FRI) TAIPEI CITY TOUR Our full day city tour begins with a visit to the National Palace Museum. It houses the world's largest collection of Chinese art treasure. Most of the 620,000 art objects were part of the Chinese imperial collection that was brought to Taiwan for safe-keeping. The collection is too large to be displayed at one time! After that, we go to the CKS Memorial Hall, a monument that was built for Chiang Kai Shek whom the locals believe is one of the great Chinese leaders. It towers over 25 hectares of landscape. By this time, you must have already seen the Taipei 101 Building from afar. This is our next stop and is the 2nd tallest building in the world! There are multi-level shopping malls and restaurants inside. Speaking of shopping, the Rao Hao Night Market is the perfect place to unwind. You will find lots of clothes, souvenirs and trinkets in this famous spot. For those who are more into eating, this place is also popular for their delicious street food. Try some of their specialties like Oyster Omelette, Chicken Shawarma and Stinky Tofu to name a few.
FEB 11 (SAT) TAIPEI CITY TOUR We continue our city tour and travel to Yehliu Geographic Park. Yehliu is famous for its natural rocks formations which are an amazing array of artistic shapes created by erosion and other natural forces. Next, we go to Chiufen Village. The villages of Chiufen were once centers of gold mining in Taiwan. The gold is gone, but these quaint old villages, built of closely-packed houses clinging to steep mountainsides, continue to offer enchanting scenery and fascinating glimpses into the lifestyles of the past. Still in the mood for shopping? We end the day at Ximending Shopping District. This pedestrian shopping haven is one of the city's culture centers, hosting a massive variety of fashion clothing shops, eclectic restaurants, clubs, and bars.
