Upon arrival, we will be met at the airport for a city tour of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. See Vasco de Gama’s Tomb inside San Jeronimo Monastery. Admire views of the Navigator’s Monument and the Belem Tower, the starting point for Portugal’s intrepid explorers. Then we drive to Fatima for overnight.
After breakfast, we see the Chapel of Apparitions, Old & New Basilica, Francesco and Jacinta’s graves, the Aljustrel where the children lived and Valinhos, the site of Our Lady’s appearance after the children return from prison. Afternoon free for own devotions.
Today, we drive to the “Golden City” of Salamanca. Visit the House of Shells (La Casa De Las Conchas), Plaza Mayor, Cathedral and University Building. Transfer to Burgos, a city in Castilla-Leon situated in the Pilgrim’s Road to Santiago de Compostela for check-in
Welcome to Burgos, a city that still preserves important vestiges of its medieval splendor. Burgos was the capital of the unified kingdom of Castilla-Leon for five centuries and it boasts of a masterpiece of Spanish Gothic architecture. Visit the Burgos Cathedral which was declared World Heritage Site. After lunch, we go to San Sebastian for check-in.
Enjoy a short city tour of San Sebastian, a city framed by golden beaches and lush hillsides, This basque city has undeniable allure, from its venerable dining scene to its grand architecture and packed cultural calendar. In the afternoon, we drive to Lourdes, a holy city in France which is visited by 5 million pilgrims annually and known for several sightings of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
In the morning we gather for a short city orientation then the afternoon will be free for our own private devotions. In the evening, we can participate in the emotive candlelight procession and join multitudes in praying the rosary in honor of Our Lady.
We depart Lourdes and drive to Zaragoza to see its impressive Basilica of our Lady of Pilar. Then on to Barcelona where we will spend the next 2 nights.
Drive along the streets of Barcelona for a short city orientation which includes passing by Casa Mila and Casa Batlio, the famous houses designed by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. We also enter the famous and beautiful Sagrada Familia. We also enjoy an excursion to Montserrat to visit the Black Madonna.
After breakfast, we proceed to a long and scenic drive to the French Riviera passing by Montpellier to beautiful Nice.
On to Monaco, capital of the Principality, built on the rocks 200ft above the sea. Walk in the narrow streets of the old town and see the changing of the guards just before midday in front of the Grimaldi Palace. Visit the neo-romanesque cathedral with the Princess Grace Memorial.
Depart Nice for Pisa, world-renowned for its Leaning Tower. With historical monuments and buildings dating back hundreds of years ago, This is one city that has manage to retain its medieval appearance.
Drive to Assisi, birthplace of St Francis who founded the Fransiscan Order. Here we will have a walking tour of San Francesco’s Basilica, Santa Chiara Church, Santa Maria Degli Angeli Church, Thornless Rose Bush and Porziuncola. Then we travel to Rome.
Visit the Vatican Museum and St. Peter’s Basilica in the morning and proceed to Piazza Di Spagna for free shopping time.
