No one does the holidays quite like Europeans. The Christmas markets blend tradition with culinary flair. Think wooden chalets in medieval squares, angelic choirs and snow-capped cathedrals, twinkly lights on trees, log fires, and perhaps most importantly, seasonal treats both savory and sweet, along with all the hot mulled wine you can drink. Experience the magic of the holiday season as we visit Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. Each country will surely impress you with their own charm.
Welcome to Munich! Upon arrival, we will be transferred to our hotel and the rest of the day will be free until we regroup for dinner.
Today we see the major sights in the city including the Nymphenburg Palace which used to be the summer residence of Bavarian Rulers. We also pass by Maximilianstrasse, the elite and exclusive street in Munich lined with an array of luxury brand shops. Last stop will be Marienplatz, with its soaring Christmas tree, Town Hall and Glockenspiel. Here, the Christmas Market is in full swing with festive lights and music. The rest of the day will be free for us to explore our 1st Christmas Market.
Travel into the beautiful scenery of the German Apls to visit Oberammergau, home of the popular Passion Play since 1634. See the immense theatre and admire the colourful painted chalets then continue to Innsbruck where we enter the elegant Swarovski Crystal World. Know more about the history of this famous crystal company and check out its Crystal Garden. Enjoy our 2 nd Christmas Market in this city as well before checking-in our hotel.
Delightful scenery abounds as we make our way to the principality of Liechtenstein, one of Europe’s smallest countries. We stop at Vaduz and have a city orientation tackling the history, economy and most attractive landmarks. After lunch, we make our way to Interlaken where we will spend the next 2 nights.
Enjoy marvelous mountains and lakes landscape as we head towards heart of Switzerland’s Alpine wonderland, Interlaken. Then ride a funicular at Harder Klum where we see Europe's most beautiful viewpoints of the Bernese Alps. Continue to Lucerne for some free time, enjoying lunch, wandering through the Chapelle Bridge, tasting Swiss chocolates or trying on the Swiss watch of your dreams. Dinner and overnight in our hotel.
Cross the Rhine to the Alsace region of France. Visit Colmar, a town so magical, it could be plucked from a storybook. At this time of the year, the Old Town and Le Petite Venice are all aglow with pre-Christmas magic. Continue to Strasbourg where
we visit the famous Cathedral and Palais Rohan. Known for being the “Capital of Christmas’, we visit our 3rd Christmas Market where we give you free time to look around and enjoy the local cuisine on your own before we proceed to the hotel.
Travel across the Vosges Mountains and head for the famous Champagne region. A beautiful drive to the vineyards brings you to the Lanson Vineyard. Enjoy an elegant wine tour from the source itself with an opportunity to purchase your own champagne or wine bottle to bring home. In the afternoon, we arrive at the French capital where we spend our last 2 nights.
Welcome to the City of Lights! A whole day tour awaits us as we drive along the Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe. See its most iconic landmark, the Eiffel Tower up close and climb up to its 2nd level to get a panoramic view of the city. Visit Cathedral of Notre Dame, Napoleon's Tomb, the Latin Quarter, and the lively Opera District.
Visit Penny Lane, the Cavern Club, and Albert Dock, then enjoy Before we leave for the airport, it’s your chance to explore Paris city center at your own pace. Drop by Galleries Lafayette and marvel at their awesome Christmas display and feast your eyes on the latest fashion trends of well-known brands. We drive to the airport in the late afternoon for our flight back to Manila.
